FAQs

What is the Independent Canned Wine Awards?

Launched in March 2023 and held annually, The ICWA is a wine competition to award, promote and celebrate the best canned wines out there. The competition is based in Bristol, UK and is the only competition of its type in Europe.

How much does it cost to enter ICWA25?

Entry is £80.00 per wine (no VAT payable). If your wine secures a medal, the only other cost would be for optional medal stickers to adhere to your cans, at £25.00 per roll of 1000. All other materials, like the pro bottle photos and medal logos, are included in the entry fee.

You say ‘independent’, but what does this mean?

The ICWA is not owned by or affiliated to a larger company or organisation. That’s really important to the credibility of our medals. Objectivity is so important if any message is to be taken seriously. The ICWA is proudly free from conflict, compromise or influence.

Where should I send samples? How many are required?

Four samples of each canned wine entry should be sent to arrive by Friday 9th May (09.05.25) at our registered address in Bristol, UK:

The ICWA, c/o Mr Alexander Taylor, 2 Laurie Lee Court, Barrs Court, Bristol, BS30 7BG.

Who is on the ICWA judging panel?

Our panel is Chaired and overseen by Master of Wine Liam Steevenson, and lead judge is Tommy Grimshaw, the youngest Head Winemaker in the UK. It’s a really good mix, very professionally diverse, and also includes a consumer perspective. View it here.

What is the deadline for entering ICWA25?

Entries for ICWA25 are invited now, and until Thursday 1st May (01.05). Judging takes place on Saturday 17th May (17.05). Results will be announced on Monday 23th June (23.06). Check out the full list of key dates here.
